Seedling
Life is inefficient. Grow it anyway.
A melancholy farming and exploration game. You play the last farmer bot, restoring a space station's hydroponics in a universe with no organic life left.
About the game
What is Seedling?
Every planet has been optimised. Robots stripped away all plants, animals and people long ago and replaced them with industry. You are a farmer bot, woken on a worn-down frontier station when the first sign of organic life in ages is detected. Past the station lies the anomaly, a region of space where time runs slow and relics of the old world still survive.
You bring the station's old hydroponics back online and pay for it with your own energy, which is both your currency and your life. When you aren't tending crops, you head into the anomaly to fight drones, salvage ruins and recover the artefacts and DNA of things the universe has forgotten. Over time, the station's sceptical robots start to see what you're growing.
Restore the last garden
Bring a decommissioned hydroponics bay back to life one section at a time, planning crops around light, energy and long growth cycles.
Energy is everything
The same energy is your currency, your power supply and your life, so every new plot is a real sacrifice.
Explore the anomaly
Fly into a slow-time region of space to explore derelicts and ruins, fight automated drones and recover relics from the past.
Win over the station
Help the station's robots, each with their own view of the optimisation directive, slowly learn to value what you grow.
